you stencil it, cut it, break it, you make a lot of scraps, wrap every piece in foil, polish it 50 times, cut yourself a lot, etc.
stained glass takes a lot of work, I've done some stained glass work with my father (he did most of the work), we did almost $1,000,000 worth of stained glass for a St.Mary's Polish Roman Catholic Church in Sydney, Nova Scotia over a period of about 4 years from 1997-2001 or so. That is why I respect and admire this talent of yours so much. great work!

Hahaha! You got it right there. Lets just say my hands will never be fit for a nail varnish comercial!! (Not that I care ofcourse, I don't wear nail varnish, apart from the black cement type )
Wow that's a pretty hefty job, I bet that was an unbelievable experience. So were all the panels copper foiled or did you use lead panels too? When I was at uni we were told we had to learn to lead before we learnt to copper foil because leading is such a pain in the ass. Funnily enough though, everyone else uses copper foil but I love leading.
I'd love to see some the St Mary's work you and your father did. Do you have any photos?

the panels were ALL foiled, but my dad did fix an allready existing one in the church with lead (why i dont know exactly)
we did about 28 panels, most were about 1.5.m x 1.5m, except for the pieces that came to a point at the top of the panels.. they had dedications in the bottom in polish (na pamiatke this or that guy). i still remember it lol.. how could i ever forget?

well, getting that petina stuff (or whatever you call it) off the glass was fun.. not lol. a few minor but stinging cuts, etc. like i said, he did most of the work, but knowing that you had taken part in doing the stained glass for a whole church is pretty damn cool. i have access to everything i would ever need to make stained glass pieces, even glass. if i had the time i could do a little something.
OMG... something from the heart, perhaps??
I'll have to see about this.
